Chapter 7: The MIXER/EFFECTS Key
The Stereo Output Mixer
The MPC3000 has a 64 channel stereo mixer, providing a unique
volume and pan value for each of the 64 note number assignments
(35-98) in the active program.
To adjust the stereo mixer, press the MIXER/EFFECTS key, then
select option 1. The following screen will appear:
This is a graphic simulation of a multi-channel stereo mixer, show-
ing a simulated volume slider and pan knob for each of the 16 pads
in pad bank A (A01-A16).
To show the settings for the other 3 pad banks, press the PAD
BANK key until the desired bank (A-D) is active.
To adjust the volume of a particular sound:
1. Press the pad for the sound that you want to adjust; the small
triangle on the screen will move directly above the number of the
selected pad.
2. Rotate the data entry control. As you turn it, the graphic volume
slider will move up or down, indicating that the volume of the
selected sound is being changed.
To adjust the pan position of a particular sound:
1. Press the pad that you want to adjust; the small triangle on the
screen will move directly above the number of the selected pad.
2. Press the CURSOR UP key. The small triangle will now point
upwards, toward the graphic pan knob.
3. Rotate the data entry control. As you turn it, the graphic pan
knob will move between one of 15 pan positions, indicating that
the pan setting of the selected pad is being changed.
Notice that the screen displays pad numbers, yet the mixer contains
volume and pan data for each of the 64 note number assignments
(35-98) in the active program. For each pad number on the screen,
the volume and pan data shown is from the note number (35-98)
within the active program to which the pad number is currently
assigned (in the MIDI key, option 1 screen). If you want to be able
to adjust mix data by selecting a specific note number regardless of
