Chapter 9: Saving to and Loading from Disk
Press <Load it> to load the APS file. The APS file will be loaded,
followed by each sound file used in the APS file. (APS files contain a
list of sound names but not sound data itself.) If one of the sound
files to be loaded already exists in memory, that file won’t be loaded
from disk.
COMMENT: If the selected APS file’s sound files span
multiple disks, the MPC3000 will first load the APS file,
then all of its sound files from the first disk. Then, a message
will appear on the screen asking you to insert the disk
containing a specific sound file (this is the second disk you
saved to when saving the large APS file). The MPC3000 will
then load all needed sound files from the second disk. If the
sound files spanned more than two disks, this process will
repeat until all of the needed sound files are loaded.
Loading an MPC60 Version 1 or 2 SET or ST1 File
The MPC60 version 2 operating system used SET or ST1 files to
hold an entire set of sounds and their assignments to the pads. In
the MPC3000, SET or ST1 files are no longer used. Instead, pro-
grams are used to hold sound assignments. However, the MPC3000
allows SET or ST1 files to be loaded, automatically converting pad
assignments to note number assignments and loading them into a
program, and adding all sounds from the file into sound memory.
If a SET or ST1 file is selected in the Load File screen and <Load
it>
is pressed, the following screen will be displayed, in which you
are asked if you want to load the entire file or only a single sound
within the file:
====== Load MPC60 SET or ST1 file ======
1.Load entire file (add sounds to memory
and load assignments into a program)
2.Load one sound from the SET file
========================================
Select option:
To load the entire SET or ST1 file
If 1 is selected, the SET file’s assignments will be loaded into a
program. A screen will appear asking you which program to load the
assignments into:
