Connect the external audio source you want to record
from to the analog or digital line in of your MPC 1000!
In MAIN screen, highlight the small eld above the
Track number to select the track type. Change it from
'DRUM' to ' AUDIO'. Alternatively, you can hold [SHIFT]
and press [F4] to jump to track 57. Tracks 57-64 are
reserved for Audio! You can also reach the 'Input Thru'
settings this way by pressing [F6] instead of [F4]!
After selecting 'AUDIO', the MAIN screen changes,
showing other/ additional controls:
TIME Displays the length of the selected sample.
LEVEL Adjust the volume of a sample.
PAN Set the panning of a sample (L 50 - R 50)
FX Turn Data wheel to enable effects (FX1 or
FX2). Press [WINDOW] here to enter the FX
Settings.
SEND Set the amount of lter applied to the sample.
This eld is only available if FX1 or FX2 is
enabled.
Next, select the source you want to record: highlight the
track number and press [WINDOW] to enter the 'Record
Setups'. Press [F4] to save the setup. Done.
Now on to recording an Audio track...
Set the Track type to 'AUDIO' (see above).
Press 'REC' and 'PLAY' together. A countdown (4 clicks)
starts, then the actual recording begins.
The recording automatically stops at the end of the
Sequence (in the example left, after 4 bars). You can
also press 'STOP' to end the recording. The recorded
material is named 'Take x' and is shown in the display
under 'SAMPLE'. You can use Trim Mode for further
editing.
n Recording an Audio Track
NOTE: You can also apply realtime Pitch Shi and a
Filter to the material you want to record! In the screen
where you activate Input ru, turn on 'Pitch Shi'.
Now you can use Q-Link Sliders 1 and 2 to change the
pitch of the incoming audio signal before recording.
