Chapter 9: Saving and Loading From Disk
Page 180
SIZE field shows the size of the MIDI file to be saved. The FREE field
shows the amount of free space on disk.
The SAVE AS field has two options:
MIDI FILE TYPE 0: This type of MIDI file has only one track
containing all of the sequence events, each event having a
unique MIDI channel assignment. This option should only be
used if you intend for your MIDI file to be played on a simple
MIDI file player.
MIDI FILE TYPE 1: This type of MIDI file contains one track for
each track in the original MPC60 sequence file. This option is
preferred if you want to maintain track separation, as when
transferring sequences to and from an external sequencer.
The DRUM CH field determines the MIDI channel assignment for events
saved from MPC60 drum tracks. In the MPC60, drum tracks need no
MIDI channel assignment, but all events in MIDI files do. When the MIDI
file is saved, any events in drum tracks (that have no other MIDI channel
assignment) will take the channel and port assignment from this field.
Normally, 10A should be used because this is the standard channel and
port assignment for drum events in MIDI files.
