Chapter 9: Saving and Loading From Disk
Page 161
1. NO (FASTER):
When saving a program (and its sounds), if a sound file exists on
disk with the same name as one of the sounds to be saved, the
file is not
overwritten by the sound in memory. If when saving a
program you know that the sounds have not
changed, this option
will permit a faster save.
2. YES:
When saving a program (and its sounds), if a sound file exists on
disk with the same name as one of the sounds to be saved, the
disk file is
overwritten by the sound in memory. If when saving a
program you know that the sounds have
changed, you should
select this option.
• The <Do it> soft key:
Press this key to save to disk the program file and each individual sound
file used in the program.
• The <Select disk> soft key:
This soft key only appears if your MPC60 contains a Marion Systems
MPC-SCSI interface and a hard disk is connected to its SCSI port. It has
the same function as in the Save Sequence screen described above.
Saving an APS File (All Programs and Sounds)
To save all programs and all sounds in memory, select 5 (All programs)
from the DISK key menu. The following screen will appear:
========== Save All Programs ==========
File name:File_name Size: 0K
Disk:SCSI DISK PART A Free:30793K
Save:APS FILE + SOUNDS (NORMAL)
Replace same sounds on disk:NO (FASTER)
========================================
<Do it> <Select disk>
Two steps occur automatically when <Do it> is pressed:
1. The All Programs and Sounds file (APS), which contains the data for
all eight programs and the names of all sounds in memory (but not
the sound data itself), is saved.
2. Each sound in memory (even sounds not currently assigned to a
program) is individually saved as a sound file. If a sound file on the
disk has the same name as the sound being saved, the new sound
won’t be saved.
