pressed. If the <Cancel> soft key is pressed during this time, the Record
Ready status is canceled and the previous screen status is re-displayed.
When the incoming audio signal exceeds the record threshold, the light
above the REC button will turn on.
When the entire sample has been recorded, the screen changes to:
=========== Sample New Sound ==========A
Sound has been recorded. To hear it,
press <Play/Stop>. If you like it, press
<Keep&name> to name the new sound. If you
don't like it, press <Discard> to discard
it and sample again.

<Play/Stop><Keep&name><Discard>
As the screen explains, sampling is finished. You can now hear the new
sound by pressing <Play/Stop>. If you don’t like it and want to sample
again, press <Discard>. If you want to keep it and give it a name, press
<Keep&name>, and the following screen will appear:

Name for new sound:sound001
(Turn data knob to enter LETTER mode,
type name with letter keys & press ENTER
when done. To assign sound to a program,
press PROGRAM/SOUNDS key, option 1.)

Naming the sound is done in the same way as renaming a sequence in
the Play/Record screen. When finished naming the sound, press
<Done>.
COMMENT: The audio input jacks on the rear panel are
balanced inputs having a high, low and ground connection using
a standard stereo phone jack:
Ground Low High
However, standard mono phone plugs will work fine—the low
connection will simply connect to ground
Sampling stereo sounds
The MPC60 has only one mono sampling input. Sampling of stereo
sounds is accomplished by sampling each side of a stereo signal
