Chapter 7: The Drum Mix key
Page 124
The Stereo Output Mixer
The MPC60 has a 64 channel stereo mixer, providing a unique volume
and pan value for each of the 64 note number assignments (35–98) in
the active program.
To adjust the stereo mixer, press the DRUM MIX key, then select option
1. The following screen will appear:
This is a graphic simulation of a multichannel stereo mixer, showing a
simulated volume slider and pan knob for each of the 16 pads in pad
bank A (A01–A16).
To show the settings for the other three pad banks, press the BANK 2
key until the desired bank (A–D) is active.
To adjust the volume of a particular sound:
1. Press the pad for the sound that you want to adjust; the small triangle
on the screen will move directly above the number of the selected
pad.
2. Rotate the data entry knob. As you turn it, the graphic volume slider
will move up or down, indicating that the volume of the selected
sound is being changed.
To adjust the pan position of a particular sound:
1. Press the pad that you want to adjust; the small triangle on the screen
will move directly above the number of the selected pad.
2. Press the CURSOR UP key. The small triangle will now point
upwards, toward the graphic pan knob.
3. Rotate the data entry knob. As you turn it, the graphic pan knob will
move between one of 15 pan positions, indicating that the pan setting
of the selected pad is being changed.
Notice that the screen displays pad numbers, yet the mixer contains
volume and pan data for each of the 64 note number assignments (35–
98) in the active program. For each pad number on the screen, the
volume and pan data shown is from the note number (35–98) within the
active program to which the pad number is currently assigned (in the
MIDI key, option 1 screen). If you want to be able to adjust mix data by
selecting a specific note number regardless of its pad assignment, use
the All Mix Data (Text) function, accessed by selecting option 3 from the
initial DRUM MIX key menu.
