Chapter 10: Syncing to Tape and Other Devices
Regardless of which sync mode is selected, there is one soft key in
the Sync In section:
• The <SyncIn=ON > soft key:
Pressing this soft key turns the sync input on or off. The soft key
text shows the current state. If ON, the MPC3000 always stands
ready to sync to the incoming sync signal. If OFF, incoming sync
signals are ignored.
The Sync Out section
The right side of the Sync screen contains all settings related to
using the MPC3000 as the source of sync signals. The MPC3000 can
send three types of sync signals:
• FSK24, output from the Sync Out jack whenever a sequence or
song plays
• MIDI clock, output from any one of the four MIDI output ports
• SMPTE, output from the Sync Out jack only while no sequence or
song is playing and only while the SMPTE Generation screen is
showing
There is one field and one soft key on this side of the screen:
• The MIDI sync field:
This choice field determines which of the four MIDI output ports (or
none) will send MIDI clock and Song Position Pointer signals. The
options are OFF, OUT A, OUT B, OUT C or OUT D.
• The <GenSMPTE> soft key:
Pressing this soft key displays the screen that’s used to generate
SMPTE time code:

<Start> <Stop>
This screen permits SMPTE time code to be generated from
the SYNC OUT jack. It can only be generated while this
screen is showing. It is not generated while the MPC3000 is
playing. The fields and soft keys are:
