Chapter 9: Saving to and Loading from Disk
Loading stereo S1000/S3000 samples
In the S1000 and S3000, stereo samples are stored on disk as two
different mono sample files having the same name followed by -L
(left side) or -R (right side). If a pair of these mono samples com-
prising a stereo sample exists on the disk and one of them is se-
lected, the screen appearance changes:
===== Load S1000/3000 Sample Files =====
File:SNAREDRUM-L Size: 56K
Free(snd): 1916K
Also load SNAREDRUM-R to make a stereo
sound?
========================================
<Yes,stereo> <No,mono>
As the message states, you now have two choices—to load both sides
of the stereo sound or to load only the selected side as a mono sound.
The soft keys are:
• The <Yes,stereo> soft key:
Pressing this soft key loads both the selected sample and the sample
containing the opposite stereo side into a single MPC3000 stereo
sound. The new stereo sound will have the same name as the
selected sample name except the -L or -R will be removed. If this
soft key is pressed, the amount of free sound memory must be at
least twice the amount shown in the Size field because only the
size of one of the stereo sides is shown.
• The <No,mono> soft key:
Pressing this soft key loads the selected mono sample only, ignoring
the opposite stereo side.
