Chapter 8: Creating and Editing Sounds
ALL (the entire sound)
ZONE (from the start to the end of the zone)
TEMP (the current contents of the temporary storage area)
BEFORE ZONE (the portion of the sound before the zone
start)
AFTER ZONE (the portion of the sound after the zone end)
BEFR SOFT ST (the portion of the sound before the soft
start)
AFTR SFT END (the portion of the sound after the soft
end)
COMMENT: Because of the way the MPC3000 internally
plays sounds, up to approximately 20 milliseconds (ran-
domly) of the end of a sound is not heard. Take this into
account when playing a portion of a sound. For example,
when playing a region from 001.000.00 to 002.000.00, you
may only hear all but the last 20 milliseconds of this region.
• The Do field:
This field works in conjunction with the <Do> soft key. It is a choice
field, used to select one of a number of editing operations that will
be performed when the <Do> soft key is pressed. The options are:
COPY ZONE->TEMP (copy the contents of the zone to the
temporary storage area)
INS TMP->ZON ST (copy the contents of the temporary
storage area and insert them at the address shown in the
Zone st field)
INS TMP->ZN END (copy the contents of the temporary
storage area and insert them at the address shown in the
Zone end field)
DELETE ZONE (delete the contents of the zone and close
the gap)
SILENCE ZONE (silence the contents of the zone)
REVERSE ZONE (reverse the contents of the zone)
COMMENT: The contents of the temporary storage area are
lost whenever the Edit Sound screen is exited.
• The <Play X> soft key:
This soft key works in conjunction with the Play X field. When
pressed, it plays the portion of the sound that is currently displayed
in the Play X field.
• The <Do> soft key:
This soft key works in conjunction with the Do field. When pressed,
it performs the action currently selected in the Do field.
